Located in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand is made up of multiple islands. It has two main landmasses: the North Island and the South Island, together with over 700 other islands. Every year calls for a new batch of sneakers that every sneakerhead looks forward to. With the release of new sneakers and comebacks of classic ones, any sneakerhead has a sure pair that they are looking to purchase this 2022. Aside from the usual Jordan NZ release, other brands are releasing sneakers to pick up the hype. Here is a list of 2022 sneaker releases that you should look forward to.
Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 Georgetown
The classic Hi ‘85s were recently released in January 2020 in the Varsity Red together with the first Air Ship retro in the New Beginnings pack. A Neutral Grey colourway was also dropped in February of last year, which made avid sneaker fans puzzled with the once-a-year releases. The Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 Georgetown was inspired by the Georgetown Hoyas Air Jordan 1 PE way back in the 1980s, and sneaker fans are hoping that this won’t be the only Hi ’85s released this year.
Air Jordan 5 Green Bean
This Jordan 5 sneaker features sparkling silver uppers with bright green accents. First released in 2006, this sneaker is getting its first return after 16 years. The colour on this sneaker was produced through the Jordan Brand's Lifestyle initiative back in the 2000s and was well-received by many sneaker enthusiasts. However, as trends change, many sneakers from this initiative are considered unwearable today. But, if you’re into eye-catching sneakers, then the Air Jordan 5 Green Bean is worthy of being worn.
Air Jordan 12 Playoffs
Since its first release in 2012, it’s about time that the Air Jordan 12 Playoffs had a retro release. Although the 12s were released in a low-top variant in 2017, the original high-top design has that classic vibe. And with the combination of the black and white leathers with the red accent, the Air Jordan 12 Playoffs is an easily recognisable shoe.
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low
The Air Jordan 1 and Travis Scott collab are probably among the most anticipated shoes every year. Two colourways have already been seen worn by Travis Scott. One pair was already teased by Hiroshi Fujiwara, Fragment Design head, back in August, and one of the pairs might be familiar to some sneakerheads as Travis Scott has already worn them during the 2019 Grammys.
New Balance 990v6
This shoe is the compromise of New Balances past and future designs. Before it was formally revealed in June of last year, Aimé Leon Dore, the founder of Teddy Santis, announced the head of New Balance's MADE in USA campaign this year. Although it is still uncertain what she will do for the MADE in USA campaign, the first revelation of the 99x silhouette made many sneaker fans excited.
Adidas Yeezy BSKTBL Knit
Kanye West continually expands his sneaker empire to new styles, called the Yeezy BSKTBL Knit 3D. The sneaker features a BOOST-stuffed midsole with a high-cut heel clip similar to the Yeezy QNTM. In addition, however, it has a stretchy upper and a sock collar that reaches above the ankle for less weight.
